The reason Luzcar has been selected as the official partner of The Algarve Specialist is because all the costs that you normally pay extra for at Luzcar are included as standard. This is the full list:

Not included: airport surcharge :

The only costs that are not included are a one-time airport surcharge of €15.00 if you want to pick up and/or return the car at Faro Airport. These are costs that Luzcar pays back to the airport. The €15.00 is a one-time fee for picking up and/or returning the car at the airport. If you pick up and return the rental car at the office in Lagos, these costs are of course not applicable.

What other costs are not included? Of course, a line has to be drawn somewhere. The costs that are not included are tolls, damage from drunk driving, loss of keys and theft of personal belongings left in the vehicle:

• Costs for using toll roads are not included. It is best to put €10 to €20 prepaid credit on the toll chip and top it up later if necessary. Please note: unfortunately there is no way to check the prepaid credit, so keep track of this yourself.
• The entire insurance is void if the customer is under the influence of alcohol or drugs. This is in accordance with Portuguese law
• Losing the car keys (estimated cost 250 euros).
• Insurance for personal belongings left in the vehicle in case of theft. Portugal is a safe country, but do not leave valuables in the car!

The minimum age to rent a car with Luzcar is 21 years old and the driver must have held their license for more than two years. If the license is not issued in the Latin alphabet (i.e. Arabic, Greek, Russian or Chinese), an International Driving Permit (LIC) is required attached to the original license.

If you want to take a trip to Spain, you can! At Luzcar you are insured when you take a trip to Spain. Please note: you are not allowed to drive to other countries than Spain or Portugal.

At Luzcar you only have to pay when you actually receive your rented car. The payment methods are:

• Cash (Euro’s)
• Credit Card
• Debit Card (payment card)

The Algarve has one toll road: the A22. This runs from east to west and is the fastest way to drive through the Algarve. It does not work with barriers and toll booths, but electronically. the will be free from the 1st of January 2025. but there are other toll roads in Portugal.

At Luzcar, when you rent a car, you will receive an electronic prepaid toll pass, which you must charge in advance with a minimum of €10. Every time you drive through a section of the toll road, money will be automatically debited from the pass.

The A22 will be free from toll as of the 1st of January 2025.

For most categories of Luzcar cars it is possible to rent roof racks. Indicate this in your reservation and it will be taken into account.
