The best place to kitesurf in the Algarve is the bay of Alvor. This is because it is surrounded by sandbanks, so you don’t just end up in the open ocean. In addition, the water is only hip-deep in most places, so you can easily walk back and climb onto your board.

During this three-hour kitesurfing lesson you will receive instructions from an experienced instructor and consists of several steps:

Theory lesson. The instructor will tell you about the safety regulations and how all the equipment is used.
Body Drag. With a small kite but without a board, you first learn to control the kite while letting your body be pulled through the water. This way you develop a feeling for the control of the kite which you will later apply when you are on the kite board.
Kitesurfing! Once you have mastered step two, it is time to make your first meters on a kitesurf board.

Prices for kitesurfing lessons in the Algarve

The cost of learning kitesurfing in the Algarve is €140.00 per three-hour lesson. Of course, all the (in 2024 brand new) equipment is included and transport from Burgau, Luz or Lagos. Meeting on location is of course also possible.
